Sidmouth Sailing Club hosted their first ever Open RS Feva race and training weekend.

This class of dinghy is sailed mostly by junior sailors. A total of eight boats entered on the Saturday which saw them take to the water for some expert coaching and practice race starts. This was in preparation for Sundays planned three back-to-back races.

With ideal conditions on Saturday training went well with all crews being put through their paces with some constructive expert coaching.

All boats were invited to take part in normal club racing that afternoon, the invitation being taken up by all.

A strengthening southwesterly wind allowed sailing skills to be put to the test.

With the weather forecast showing stronger winds for Sunday some boats withdrew from the event.

Sunday morning then saw five boats launch to compete in the three back-to-back races supported by a full race management team.

The first of the three races started at approximately 11.30am where, again some impressive skills were on show from these young sailors.

Having completed the three races, prize giving took place in the clubhouse at 3.30pm. First and second prizes were taken by crews from Bristol Corinthians Sailing Club with the third prize being taken with a commendable performance by a Sidmouth boat helmed by Jack Rea and crew James Fawell.
