Flack ponders managerial role at Sidmouth Town

Sidmouth Town gained their first point of the new Carlsberg Peninsular League Division One East campaign with a 0-0 draw away at Exmouth Town on Wednesday night after a disappointing 4-0 home defeat against a very good Totnes and Dartington side on Saturday, writes Roger Trivett.

This follows an opening day 4-1 defeat at Okehampton, Sam Baker being the scorer, and a narrow 1-0 home defeat to local rivals Budleigh Salterton.

The club have been short of a number of last season’s more experienced players and hope that the next few weeks will see a strengthening of the squad.

Last season’s manager Paddy Thomas departed just a week before the season started and, with reserve manager Nick Ogden unavailable for the first two weeks, it has been left to Graham Long to fill the manager’s position for the first three fixtures.

The club have been in talks with ex-Exeter City forward Steve Flack with regard to the managers position and he will be taking twice weekly training sessions over the next few weeks before a full appointment is made.
