Fluxton have been crowned Fresha League Division Five champions after they triumphed 6-0 at Sandford in their final game of the league campaign.

Fluxton travelled to Mid Devon with a full squad and a large number of travelling supporters. Amongst the onlookers were a party from Honiton Town Reserves present to see if the home side could stop the visitors winning and so see Honiton’s second team take the title!

As it was Fluxton made the perfect start to both settle their nerves and sink the hopes of the Honiton watchers. Straight from kick-off a slick passing moved ended with Figures laying the ball off to Devereux to find the bottom corner of the net – the goal coming 12 seconds from the whistle to start play!

The next half an hour was nip-and-tuck and Fluxton were dealt a blow when Figures, always such a prominent force in their game, was forced off with injury. Durrant left the subs bench to take on the striking duties and his impact was immediate as he took a pass from Alex Paget and tucked the ball home to double the lead.

Sandford tried to find a way back into the contest, but got little change out of the impressive Butcher and Sercombe, whilst the latter’s brother, between the posts, dealt manfully with anything that came his way.

A slick move involving Durrant and Ollie Paget released left back Clothier-Smith who, upon getting himself into the home penalty area was hauled down and Durrant rifled the spot kick home to make it 3-0. A fourth was added courtesy of a home player to send Fluxton into the break with a healthy lead.

In the second half Clothier Smith powered home a header from a Ollie Paget corner and the sixth and final goal had a family affair about it as Ollie Paget played in Alex Paget and the latter sent the ball past the home gloves man.
