The Devon County Football Association is planning to run FA Referees’ courses as an introduction to officiating in 11v11 and 9v9 football.
The course will introduce learners to the laws of football and their application, with special emphasis on the knowledge, skills and attributes required to operate safely and effectively as a referee in grassroots football.
Some of the areas covered in the course will include effective communication with players, positioning and movement for a referee and managing players.
Learners will develop knowledge of the advantage rule, managing restarts, recognising and dealing with foul challenges, the offside rule, procedures for cautions and red cards, as well as dealing with substitutions and injuries.
The course is comprised of six units, with a mixture of theory and practical, although current Covid restrictions will obviously be taken into consideration
