Top teams bounce back after a poor result. After the disappointment of defeat at Bickleigh the previous week, it was a focused and confident Colaton Raleigh side that started at Axminster, writes Ken Woodsford.

The first half was full of lovely possession football, and all the goal scoring chances were created by the visitors. However, a combination of wayward finishing, and some determined defending by Axminster, kept the score goalless.

The half time team talk was very positive. Player/Manager Riki Pitter told his team they were playing very well, and just needed composure in front of goal. A one-sided second period saw Colaton Raleigh take the lead when Tony Cox beat two defenders in a race to reach a through ball, and finish in style.

Ten minutes later a Ben Farrington cross was met at the far post by Damian Armes, who headed the ball back for Neil Blake to volley in to the roof of the net, 2-0.

Riki Pitter sealed the victory with a fierce shot from outside the area, which took a slight deflection off an Axminster defender.

Tony Cox and Gary Dixon played particularly well, and centre backs Matt Tett and Neil Blake gave great protection to 16-year-old Raleigh keeper Dec Lines who never looked troubled.
