The fall out from the Totnes 'thrashing' was the less-than-committed dropped out, unwilling to fight and the Otters will turn their back on them as "the Future" turned out at Alphington. With the average age of the players being 21 years of age, this Otters side was brim full of talent. It was a hot day and the game was always going to be a slow paced affair, both sides doing their best to attack. Alphas had a couple of early chances but new signing Jack Burgess in goal was up to the challenge. The Otters took the lead through an own goal from a Searle corner which whipped into the near post. Alphas replied quickly from a corner which, until then, Otters had defended well. Both teams came out at half time knowing that the three points were there to be taken. Instead they were handed to Alphington. Manager Tim Mills said: "When two players are running towards a ball shoulder to shoulder, when one falls over why is that a free kick?" The Otters players were truly baffled and an increasingly popular feeling was that it was given for swearing where he was standing, not from the battling players." From the resulting free kick the cross came in and was headed away but only for an Alphas' attacker to poke it home.Otters had given their all in this game and felt very let down. On the whole the Otters did well but resources were stretched. Mills said: "With 3-4 new experienced signings Otters could have a good end to this season. It's up to me to get them." Squad (442): Jack Burgess 18, John Watson 19, Jordy Taylor 18, Dan Jewell 16, Nick Searle 25, Ash Bridson 18, Harry Mills 22, Si Andrews 19, Carpanini 20, Andy Wharton 26, Dean Goddard 25.
