Clarke so clinical for Ottery St Mary Under-9s

Archant

Ottery St Mary Under-9s emerged unbeaten after two matches against City Raiders teams.

The first game was hugely entertaining with the teams trading goals, both leading at one stage before ultimately it finished all square at 3-3.

That represents a good shift from the Otters who were below their best in the first half. However, they more than made up for it after the break!

The Ottery goals were scored by Freddie Clark with two, one of which was a spectacular header, and the other scorer was Sam Gleeson.

The second game was a different affair with the Otters having to tolerate some very aggressive treatment from the opposition!

Despite this the young Blues held their own and, despite going into half time 2-0 down, still felt they could get something from the game.

After a rousing half time talk from coach Adam Carpenter, the Otters came out in the second half a changed team!

They matched the aggressive approach of the opposition and, having gained a foothold in the contest, began to move the ball around well to take total control.

Two amazing solo efforts from Ash Whitcombe and Jake Blackmore, along with a wonderfully struck volley from Jack Carpenter and an outstanding finish from Freddie Clarke saw the Otters take the match honours 4-2.

A special mention to Jake Blackmore who endured a punishing game in defence and still came out on top and Freddie Clarke who, as always, was clinically consistent in front of goal.
