Archant

Thorverton 1, Sidmouth 1

Sidmouth began the game well and attacked fro the first whistle.

George Harris was given the chance to lead the attack and his pace was evident in the early exchanges with the home keeper doing well to keep his shot out.

Harris then beat the glovesman only to see the ball cannon back off an upright to be cleared. Thorverton also carried a threat and it needed an excellent Will Down save to stop the Thors taking the lead.

Jamie Newbery thought he had opened the scoring, but the goal was disallowed for an alleged foul.

The second half was just as action packed with end-to-end football before the home side took the lead with a deflected shot that Down got his fingers to but couldn’t keep out.

The Sidmouth response was good. Joe Miller fired just over before Jack DeWinton released Ed Doble whose fine run and cross ended with some clever skill by Ben Miller to keep the ball in play prior to Doble sweeping it past the keeper.

Sidmouth then went in search of a winner to no avail, but a draw in a contest between two well-matched sides was a fair outcome.
