Archant

Tipton St John seem to be playing every other night at the moment as they go through a serious bout of ‘catch-up’ with their Macron League Division Three fixtures.

On Monday night they shared four goals with Priory before a Wednesday night 3-1 home win over Countess Wear Dynamos.

While current table-toppers University look to have sewn the Division Three title up, the promotion places (second and third at the very least) are still up for grabs, and Tipton are very much part of that process!

In Monday night’s meeting with promotion seeking rivals Priory, Tipton were ‘below-par’ but then, perhaps through playing so much football lately, so were their Exeter-based opponents, and so the game was of the mundane nature! Honours ended even with the Tipton goals scored by the Freemans, Jake and Jody.

On Wednesday night – with a number of unsurprising tired legs in the ranks given that most of the team were playing their second game in three days – Tipton fell behind before storming back to win 3-1. Jody Freeman netted a brace and there was also an own goal, but the star of the show for Tipton was Adrian Small.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Tipton entertain a Royal Oak side that sit fourth in the table, one place and three points better off than Tipton, having played two games more. Another Tipton success and that much-cherished top three finish will be very much on the front burner!
