Sidmouth Town Reserves shared four goals with Chard Town Reserves when the pair met at Manstone Lane to contest a Macron League Division One game.
After falling behind after 20 minutes, worse was to follow as Chard dominated the game and doubled the lead after half an hour
Town looked a shadow of the side that has played some lovely football this season. On the other had, Chard looked solid, and were certainly a better side than their league position suggested!
The Vikings were getting frustrated as, while the build-up play was promising, all too often the final pass was of poor quality.
The half-time exchanges in the home dressing room were not for the faint hearted and the players were reminded of their need to put in a shift if they were to take anything from the contest.
It needed a ‘spark’ and it came via a terrific early second half goal from Scott Hughes.
Once on the score sheet and clearly ‘back in the game’, Town grew in confidence and began to dominate.
Parity was restored when a Joe Gosse cross-cum-shot, took a wicked deflection before nestling in the net.
The closing stages saw Town camped in the Chard half, desperately trying to find a winner, but they came up just short and had to settle for a share of the spoils.
