City got off to a bright start against struggling Bournemouth and it all looked very promising - until Wes Thomas, a loanee at the Cherries, scored his second goal in three games, to send Bournemouth on their way to a 2-0 win and heap more misery on the troubled Grecians, writes Gareth Hughes.

The result has left City next to bottom in the table, having won one of the nine games played, and losing six. There were high hopes for a good result last weekend. As this Saturday Exeter travel to Hillsborough, the home of Sheffield Wednesday, who boast the league leading scorer in the shape of Gary Madine, it's going to be a very tough weekend indeed!

In simple terms, City cannot find the back of the net and the confidence has slipped away. Slowly, but surely, there is better news coming out of the club about recovering players and Paul Tisdale has shown he is not averse to dipping into the loan market.

The not so good news is that new players and team setups take time to shape up and last weekend they appeared to be a very disjointed unit.

In Paul Tisdale we trust, though, and his thoughts on the performance were as usual honest and upfront: "The issue, when you're in a spell like us, is that you can be fragile and I think that's what we showed today. We did very well in the first quarter of the game, total dominance in terms of territory and play. We know we're not playing well and the players need to get through this and stick with it."

In terms of the game, the highlights, for what they were; Richard Logan hit the post which would have drawn as level at 1-1 and Guillem Bauza had one tipped over the bar.

This is the time for all City fans to stand up and be counted. Sheffield, here we come, and as they say, it’s a funny old game and anything can happen. We might even score a couple and win the game! Come on you Reds!

- up that league we go.
