Colyton just shade clash
Sidmouth Reserves came up short against Colyton and on reflection the 1 - 0 result was probably about right.
The Vikings were awful in the first half and had to defend corner after corner as Colyton took advantage of Sidmouth's sloppy play.
Jay Thorne in goal did very well during this spell, especially when you consider that he is not a regular goalkeeper. Luckily for Sidmouth they got to half time all square at 0-0 and, after an honest exchange of views and a team re-shuffle, they came out knowing they had been much below par.
Sidmouth played some excellent football in the second half and Colyton must have thought they were playing a different side. The introduction of Alex Martin gave the right flank some real pace and he worried the Colyton defence with his direct running, Jules Hudson played well and chased lost causes, using his strength to win the ball and feed strike partner Jack Lewis. Colyton scored their goal five minutes from time.
Alan Rowe said " I was very disappointed at half time, but we got a response in the second half and played a lot better. Colyton just shaded it and deserved their win"
