Ottery St Mary are due at Lympstone tomorrow (Saturday) for a Macron League Three game.

The Otters were 3-2 winners at Budleigh Salterton last weekend and banked the points after slipping two goals down early in the second half.

A double from left wing back Ben Rushton restored parity before centre half Adam Brook drilled home an 80th minute free-kick to see the Otters to victory.

Ottery boss Dave Fairweather said: “It was a right royal mixed bag in terms of our 90-minute performance. We really ought to have gone in at half-time with a couple of goals advantage. However, we spurned three – maybe four – gilt-edged chances and then got done by a long ball early in the second half. They hit us again with a goal that came about after a couple of individual errors, but I must credit the players for not once did they let their heads drop and, even when the second goal went in, I was still very confident that we would turn it round, and win the game!”

Including Saturday’s trip to Lympstone, Ottery face four games in eight days across three competitions. They host Feniton Reserves in the Grandisson Cup on Tuesday (March 27) with a 7.45pm start, then travel to Pinhoe for a league game on Easter Saturday before an Easter Monday Bill Slee Cup quarter-final tie against Winchester at Washbrook Meadow (2pm).

As for the forthcoming matches, Fairweather says: “I fear the weather may continue to play its part. I am hopeful we will get a game in at Lympstone and then we have Feniton Reserves in the Grandisson Cup at our place on Tuesday before two games over the Easter Weekend. It’s a busy period, but what’s not to like about that? I love it at this time of a campaign when the games come thick and fast. To still have cups to contest at this latter part of the season adds to the excitement and I am looking to do well in those cup ties as well as continue our push for as high a Macron League Division Three finish as possible.”
