OTTERY St Mary lost their opening South West Peninsular Division 1 East match away to the Royal Marines on Saturday - arguably one of favourites this year - by 8-1, maginally better than the corresponding fixture last season when they lost 0-11.

Ottery were without six first choice players for the match, at Endurance Park, most of whom should be back for the first of the new campaign's home league matches, against Exeter Civil Service . Matty Preece scored the Otters' goal.

The reserves won 9-4 against Feniton.
