PENINsula league East side Ottery St Mary are on the verge of recording their first triple timer of the season when they meet Crediton away tomorrow, Saturday.
Confidence is sky high at the club this week after a double victory - they beat Exmouth Amateurs 4-0 in the Devon Premier Cup match last Saturday and got revenge on Newton Abbot Spurs to the tune of 2-0 on Wednesday night.
On Saturday, the Ammies’ clash was a formality, with Ottery not having to get out of first gear.
Manager Dane Bunney said: “The score could have been whatever we wanted it to be, and it was a bit of a non -event really.”
Goals were scored by Michael Burke, 2, Chris Belstone and Daryll Johnstone.
More crucial, was Wednesday night’s league victory over Newton Abbot Spurs.
Ottery were beaten by the side early this season, but Bunney has bolstered his squad to such an extent that he could soon have a selectio headache.
He said: “It is lucky that I have been able to keep adding to the squad as, at the moment, we have three players who have just had operations and one wating for one.”
One of the new signings was cup tied on Saturday, but immediately made an impact, scoring both goals midweek. Ollie Burns has long been pursued by Bunney and he was signed from Alphington 10 days ago. He was Man of the Match, but Bunney was more than satisfied with the whole team’s effort.
Ottery are currently sitting sixth in the table and tomorrow’s opponents, Crediton, are second from bottom.
