Archant

Ottery 2nds slumped to another heavy home defeat against Open Space International despite good first-half performance on Saturday.

The home side’s display in the first 45 minutes should have seen the Otters take a healthy lead into the break - and made the 5-1 result at the final whistle all the more frustrating.

Attacking midfielder Tom Harrison gave Ottery a deserved lead after half an hour following good wing play and a cutting cross from Luke Phillips.

But the Washbrook Meadows outfit could not capitalise on their advantage, wasting several good chances, and paid the price when Open Space – who posed a constant attacking threat – were gifted an equaliser on the stroke of half time.

And the away side simply showed more desire in the second half – netting a further four times without reply – as the young Ottery side’s confidence was drained.

Ottery 2nds travel to Colyton tomorrow (3pm kick-off).
