Offwell Reserves 0, Colaton Raleigh Res 2 Division 8

In their final league game of the season Colaton Raleigh Reserves produced an outstanding performance to defeat a strong and experienced Offwell team in horrible conditions, swirling fog and driving rain, writes Ken Woodsford.

A goal from Blake Blackwood early in the second half, and an own goal 15 minutes from time settled this competitive and hard fought encounter.

Thanks to a stunning last two months of the campaign, when Raleigh picked up 21 points from a possible 24, they have shot up the division to finish the season in a highly creditable fifth place, well above club expectations.

The second team youngsters, in particular, Blackwood who was Man of the Match at Offwell, Ricki Harris, Scott Newbery, Ed Santer and Jamie Vittles have all made encouraging progress this season.

● Colaton Raleigh Senior team play on May 26, in the final of the Seaton Challenge Cup against either Seaton Town or Feniton.
