Last Wednesday saw the Sidmouth ladies’ challenged by the club captain, David Pepperell, and club professional, Ben Thorne, to beat their score in a four-ball better ball, writes Liz Chance.
All entry fees would be returned and doubled if their score was beaten, if not the proceeds went to the captain’s charity - The Seve Ballesteros Foundation.
The weather was kind with just a drizzle affecting the players at the end of the field.
David and Ben achieved a fantastic 45 points, it was very interesting and a privilege to see how the course could be played if your handicap is scratch or five!
The charity benefitted from all the entry fees and raised over £50.
The winners of the ladies’ with the highest score was Sheila Faulkner and Dorthe Fowler, second place Mavis Vanstone and Pauline Dibley and coming in third was Sheila Skittrall and Liz Chance.
Nearest the pin winners were Ros Eaton, Linda Reynolds and Penny Lyne who achieved a two.
This was certainly a good day with everyone playing in good spirit and in (relatively) good weather.
