Sidmouth thirds see of Feniton and Gosse nets first senior goal

Sidmouth thirds were 3-0 winners when they met Feniton thirds.
Feniton looked to have opened the scoring with a powerful goal-bound header from a corner, but a splendid goal-line clearance by Brett Lines denied them.
Sidmouth, with full-back Ollie Pinnock looking to get forward at every opportunity and combining well with debut making Joe Gosse, began to get a measure of control.
With Jimmy Pearse leading the line well, showing great strength and technique to bring others into play it did feel as if a goal would soon arrive.
Blake Blackwood continued his recent good form with some trademark runs and when he was hauled down in the area Joe Gosse slotted the penalty to register his first goal in adult football.
The half-time pep talk focussed on the importance of maintaining the same level of effort and commitment and, with Sidmouth Town second team boss Simon Hudson on the touchline, the young Sidmouth players had clearly paid attention for they bossed the second period, and in some style!”
Keiran Fayter-Small was an increasingly marauding presence right across midfield and the loss for Feniton of their influential player-manager, saw Sidmouth take full advantage.
Blackwood bundled the ball home during a goalmouth scramble before Keiran Fayter-Smith rifled a shot that rebounded off the post into the path of Josh Worthington who smashed the ball low and hard into the far corner to complete the scoring.
Sidmouth could be well pleased with their afternoon’s efforts. Joe Gosse had slotted effortlessly in to the team. Sidmouth had dominated possession and if Sam Marriott had had more luck with a couple of excellent headed efforts then the score line could have been a lot more comfortable.
Man of the match was Ollie Pinnock who really impressed not only with his willingness to get forward at every opportunity but also with a thoroughly solid and determined defensive display.
