Sidmouth U10s close to winning league

Sidmouth Town U10s 5, Perry Street U10s 0
This game saw the two best teams in the league meet each other with ‘winner takes all’ stakes, writes Rob Fowler.
This was first-placed Sidmouth taking on second in the league Perry Street and the winners would go a long way to winning the league.
Sidmouth were hustling and hurrying Perry Street from the off into mistakes but Perry Street were just as determined. Sidmouth just had that extra bit of quality and hard work saw them dominate the first half with three goals - Thomas Rush, 2, and Tyler Wood the scorers.
Perry Street had the odd chance but Sidmouth’s defence of Pyne, Griffiths and Fowler in goal, was in total control. The midfield of Wood, Campbell and Rush kept working hard and Mitchell up front was a constant threat but was always marked by at least two defenders .
Sidmouth made changes at half time with Lascelles in defence for Griffiths who man-marked Perry Street’s front man out of the game.
Jake Jones’ introduction saw him cause problems down the right wing. Harry Ensell came on as well to help in defence and Sidmouth soon added a fourth goal, scored by Sam Pyne.
George Salter came on to add extra bite to Sid’s midfield, which is small in stature but massive in commitment and desire to win the ball. He was duly rewarded with the fifth goal.
Sidmouth need one point now to win the league and these two teams meet again in the semi final of the Sunday League cup on Sunday, February 19, 2pm at Perry Street for what is sure to be another tough match
