Sidmouth Under 9’s Raiders and Warriors entertained teams from Stoke Hill for their latest Exeter Youth League fixtures.

The Raiders, depleted due to half term holidays, borrowed Jake Paget and Finlay Snape from the Warriors to make up their numbers and with the addition of the Raiders regulars performed with great enthusiasm and spirit in their first game against a very competitive Stoke Hill Apaches side. In a close game the Raiders came out on top with a brace of goals from Joe Anning and an excellent performance in Goal from Man of the Match Dean Lynch.

Next up for the Raiders were Stoke Hill Saracens and in another very entertaining game, neither team managed to breach the oppositions defences due in no small part to Man of the Match Oscar Parkinson’s resolute defending and also the Stoke Hill’s goalkeeper making some fine saves to deny William Pulman, with a 0-0 draw being a fair result.

The Warriors had to dig deep against a determined Stoke Hill Saracens. In a tight encounter all the goals were scored in the first half and the Warriors had to defend diligently throughout the second half to hold on.

Much of that was down the goalkeeping heroics of Anthony Nita and a Warrior like performance from Man of the Match Dev Nair.

The second game against Stoke Hill Apaches was equally tough with some solid tackling from both teams, the defensive duo of Matthew Dunford and Charley Turley battled hard for their team mates. Eventually the Warriors pulled away with hat-tricks for Jamie Pitter and Man of the Match Toby Edmunds who demonstrated some magnificent finishing.
