Sidmouth Warriors Under-15s win thriller with Central

Sidmouth Warriors Under-15s have been in fine form lately.
They were emphatic 13-1 winners when they met Colyton in an Exeter and District Youth League game.
Freddie Cottom took the individual scoring honours with five and the other goals came from Donnoe Spitteri (3), Josh Haig (2), Thomas Mead, Tom Doulton and Cameron Ward.
Next up they took on Exeter-based Central City and, once again, Warriors were in fine form, playing some fast flowing football and scoring some terrific goals.
Freddie Cotton fired them into the lead and goals from Donnie Spitteri netted to leave Warriors two goals to the good at the interval.
After the break Central hit back, but were denied a number of times by some superb saves from Mark Rogers.
However, the Central pressure continued and they struck twice to level things up before they bagged a third to take the lead. A Freddie Cottom finish restored parity before a second Spitteri goal – the finish coming after a wonderful pass from George Gelling made it 4-3 to Warriors and then another Cotton effort made it 5-3. Central hit back with a fourth of their own, but thereafter Warriors closed the game out well to claim a thrilling victory by the odd goal in nine!
In the game against Central the whole of the Warriors team deserve credit for their efforts with defensive unit Lewis McManus, Harry Emmett and Jack Howe, earning special praise for their collective shifts.
