Sidmouth Town Reserves are through to the next round of the Bill Slee Cup after beating Dawlish Town 2-0.The Vikings played some neat possession football with Chris Warfield at right back keeping the ball and picking out passes.Neil Blake scored the opening goal from the edge of the box with a low strike into the corner to put the Vikings in control. Sidmouth failed to add to the score before half time despite having the lion's share of the play.In the second half it was much the same story as Sidmouth tried to add to their tally. The second goal came after Ian Rush played a perfectly weighted pass through to Steve Fowler who was brought down in the box for a stonewall penalty. Up stepped captain Jean-Paul Staniforth who dispatched the spot kick with aplomb to put the Vikings two up.Sidmouth were never in any real danger of losing this game but it would have been nice to have wrapped the game up a little earlier. There are some very good young players coming through the ranks and the great thing is that they all seem to be enjoying their football.l This Saturday the reserves are away to top of the table North Tawton who they recently lost 1-0 at home to. Steve Fowler will be playing his last match for Sidmouth before he heads off to Australia for 18 months. The club have suggested commuting but he didn't seem that keen on the idea!Man of the Match: Chris Warfield Match Sponsor: Leisure East DevonSidmouth Second Team V.
