The Vikings hauled themselves back into contention against Feniton with a Chris Duchenski penalty, and were incensed when what they thought was a second resulted in a free kick, which was easily dealt with by home keeper Russell Witton. Feniton, in the end, were happy to hear the final whistle.Sidmouth seconds earned a creditable 2-2 draw against Barnstaple in a match that was definitely "a game of two halves", Barnstaple having the better of the first half, Sidmouth the second. Barnstaple scored a very good headed goal after a fantastic cross from the left.In the second half it was a different story as the Sidmouth team started to win more tackles and close down the opposition quicker.Five minutes into the half Steve Fowler levelled the scores with a great strike from 25 yards as he latched onto a through ball. He then went onto put Sidmouth ahead five minutes later when he helped a Craig Badcock effort over the line from a yard out. With Dave Pugsley, Neil Blake, Joe Clarke and Paris Pinney winning the battle in midfield and the front two of Fowler and Badcock causing problems, Sidmouth really had Barnstaple rocking and the opposition were starting to fall out with themselves and the referee.Unfortunately for the Vikings Barnstaple scored another header to equalise, 10 minutes from time, the goal coming against the run of play. To the Sidmouth players' credit they tried everything to snatch the winner but it was not to be and the match finished all square at 2 - 2.For Sidmouth there were some very good performances from Dave Pugsley, Craig Badcock and Paris Pinney, who had his best game so far in senior football, but the Man of the Match has to go to Steve Fowler for his two goals and tireless running.
