Susie Ford of Tipton St John enjoyed a hat-trick of wins at the first indoor event of the TREC season which was held at Duchy College. Riding Kookie, Ford won the Kelly Marks National Open Competition and also came second riding Jack. Kookie went on to win the TREC South West Open with Jack in third place. Ford then rode Kookie in the pairs with Yolande Elderidge and enjoyed another win! Kookie has already qualified for the Cavallo Horse and Rider TREC Championships of Great Britain in September in Wales. TREC consists of three phases, orienteering, basic flatwork and negotiating obstacles such as steps, water and jumps. The Kelly Marks indoor series involves control of paces and obstacle phases.
Ford, a former event rider, took to riding TREC on her daughter Beth’s showjumping ponies when Beth went away to university.
