Archant

The April showers were pretty persistent when 16 ladies set out for a 4 Ball Better Ball competition.

Competitors had to play off ¾ handicap so valuable shots were missed in the challenging conditions but this did mean it was a non-qualifier so the pressure was off.

Lady captain Anne Blackler with her partner Jane Renkin came in with the winning score of 36 points and Anne was also the only player to get a two...well done.

Dorthe Fowler and Judy Ritz were undeterred by the weather and came second with 31 points followed by Coral Roberts and Sheila Thomson with 29 points.

Amongst the rest of the field it was good to see Marie Clapp back after a long absence and Ann Sobczak our newest member.

There were glimpses of blue sky but at least those caught in the rain came in blown dry!
