Sidmouth Warriors 2, West Exe 0 Sidmouth Warriors Under-11s went into their latest Exeter and District Youth League game against a strong and committed West Exe with a bare side and no substitutes, writes Grant Mitchell.

It ought to have therefore been a tricky morning for the youngsters, but they dished up a superb all-round effort to deny the opposition a single shot at goal whilst scoring two themselves, though with better finishing then winning margin would have been far greater.

The opening goal was a cracker as Fowler rifled a shot from 25-yards that went in off an upright. Thereafter the visitor’s goal led a charmed life, but half-time arrived with just the single score between the teams.

The second half continued in similar fashion with Warriors asking all the questions with Mitchell and Wood dragging defenders out of position and it was that p[air’s work that opened things up for Fowler to net his second to double the lead. Chances came and went, down to a mix of excellent goal keeping, goal line clearances and indifferent finishing.

Well done to Pyne for tremendous energy and to Joel Henderson for delivering an excellent debut performance. It was cakes all round deservedly for both teams at the end.

A Big Thank You this week to our cousins the Raiders for being such avid readers of our match reports and progress, hopefully there can be rivalry again in the future.
