OTTERY RESERVES dominated and created chance after chance in a competitive encounter but the reason for their failure to put the ball in the net was clear to all watching.Manager Murrin had told the players that they must take their chance or get punished and that was what happened. After last week's weak performance at home to a very strong Okehampton side, Murrin had the pick of first team players (without a Saturday fixture) and pulled in Harry Mills, John Watson, Andy Wharton and Nick Searle and had back from university Felix and new signing Danny Tyrrell. They played an attacking 3-4-3 formation and, from the start, created chance after chance but their only reward was penalty which the keeper saved with ease. In the first half Ottery had five one-on-ones with the keeper but either shot wide or were unable to put the ball into the net.On a rare Bickleigh attack the unthinkable happened and they scored, and, with two minutes to go before half time, the ball went into the net via a very unlucky Sam Czeres, who had tried to clear, for Bickleigh's 2-0 half time lead.Ottery went out in the second half eager to play football to feet and still creating chances. But again they missed opportunities early on which put a lot of pressure on the away team.Andy Wharton put the Otters back into the game with a well taken goal, and it was felt by all supporters that the Otters would come back.Again chances were missed and, with Ottery pushing more and more forward, it was Bickleigh who could have won it. Desperate to get something out of this game, Bradley Cook was brought on and pushed into midfield with Danny Tyrrell coming off. This seemed to add height and strength to the middle four and after constant pressure Felix scored.Either team could have won it in the last five minutes but 2-2 was the end result in what was a far better performance from the Otters.Man Of The Match: Chris Dinsdale, for leading as a captain should. On Saturday, Ottery play Exmouth Ammies, 2-30pm KO.Team: Dinsdale (Capt), Czeres, Watson, Bull, Mills, Gill, Carpanini, Searle, Wharton, Tyrrell, Felix.
