SOHC A 1, Mid Somerset 1 SOHC went into the Christmas break with a hard earnt and probably quite fortunate point against Mid Somerset who they had lost to 4 - 0 in the first league game of the season.

This was always going to be a tough game for SOHC, Mid Somerset having an experienced team who have played together for some time and are familiar with each others style of play.

SOHC took the lead when a promising break down the left wing lead to the visitor’s goalkeeper upending an SOHC forward, Will Gallantree stepped up and confidently netted beyond the outstretched keeper to score from the resultant penalty stroke.

Having taken the lead it was hoped SOHC would use home advantage and the backing of their home support to extend this lead, however, it wasn’t to be and again it was their failure to retain the ball and capitalise on advantageous position when in the opponents half that frustrated skipper Moore.

Mid Somerset came out the stronger in the second half and really started to put pressure on the SOHC midfield who at times seemed to be in total disarray and the visitors seemed able to move the ball around at ease putting increased pressure on the defence of Robinson, Hext and Moore. In the main this was dealt with relatively comfortably however after 60 minutes the defence was breached and this seemed to energise the opposition and there were some frantic moments at both ends, the three points could easily have gone to either side but in the end the home side were content to take their point
