Brian Sanford won the Charles Stanley stableford last Monday with 41 points, writes George Carr.

Playing off a handicap of 19, his seven pars and nothing worse than a double bogey on his card, excepting the hiccup on the 13th hole, good enough for victory on the day - well done, Brian.

A point behind on 40, in form golfer Steve Crabb who took a little while to warm to the task dropping six of his eight handicap shots on the front nine but thereafter coming back one under par to claim his share of the sweep money.

The real highlight of this Monday Stableford was provided by veteran John Game; still playing off a handicap of ten, John was kept in third place only on countback his 40 points greatly boosted by a hole-in-one on the difficult eleventh hole for five points - the excitement thus engendered inevitably led to a slight loss of concentration and so I will draw a veil over the par-three 12th that followed. Great stuff John - drinks all round I think!
