The Sidmouth Under-13 squadron ventured out to Mid Devon last Sunday for a tricky encounter with the mighty Crediton, who were eventually beaten 17-5.
The opposition pinched the first try, albeit against the run of play and Sidmouth soon realised their successful forward play of the last two games was being thwarted! Plan B was swiftly derived at half-time, and contrary to the standard playing protocol in four inches of mud, Sidmouth ran the ball superbly in the slippery conditions. Josh Roberts opened the scoring after a startlingly good high ball catch executed at full throttle.
Dom Bernhardt, Sidmouth’s elusive new fly half, jinked his way through for a brace of well-deserved tries. Although try-less, Josh Golding took the Man of the Match award for his strong running whilst another individual to catch the eye was Oli Jones with some good old-school forceful play.
