The opponents for the latest game in the men’s county trophy over 60s competition were Torbay who always put out a strong team and once again they came out on top winning on all four rinks, write Marian and Maurice Watson.

In the second round of the Charles Parrott Shield, a men’s county competition played with two rinks, Sidmouth suffered another defeat. The rink playing away at South Hams narrowly lost by dropping two shots on the last end but the home rink had a heavier defeat.

Successes in county competitions were achieved in the ladies’ fours and men’s triples.

Marian Watson, Sue Mison, Zena Johnston and skip Jill Bishop, playing on their home rink, beat a four from Madeira by one shot and Tony Brown, John Mason and skip Ron Cook travelled to North Devon and came away winners by 17-15. Well done to all and good luck in the next rounds.

Honiton were the visitors in a mixed friendly and were convincing winners on all three rinks.
