Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club (SOHC) men’s 2nd XI went down 3-1 in their South East One meeting with third from bottom Isca D.
It turned out to be ‘one of those days’ for the side as they never really got out of a low gear from the first whistle, whereas – in stark contrast – the opposition were well ‘pumped up’ for the meeting.
Both teams scored in the first half with the SOHC goal a neat finish from Ben Harrison after a slick left wing raid. Unfortunately, the lacklustre nature of the SOHC performance continued and Isca D scored twice more. SOHC finally found something a little higher than the gear they had been in and gave a much-improved account of themselves over the final 20 minutes, but it was a case of ‘too little, too late’ and, given the opposition excitement at full-time, they clearly wanted the fixture more!
Nick Goode was named the SOHC 2nd XI Man of the Match.
