Sidmouth Warriors Under-11s were victorious by the odd goal in eleven after an amazing Exeter and District Youth League meeting with Central Redstar.

Incredibly it was the second time this season that Warriors and the Exeter-based side have shared eleven goals in a contest!

When the sides met in Exeter in November the home side won 6-5 and that’s precisely what happened this time in Sidmouth!

The star of the show for Warriors was Tim Goody who scored five of the goals.

Despite the home win it was the visiting side that started the brighter and they took an early lead. Parity was restored by a Stan Richardson goal and Goody scored the first of his nap hand to see Warriors into a 2-1 interval lead.

Redstar made a powerful start to the second half and, aided by some charitable defending, scored two quick goals to hold a 3-2 lead. Goody levelled things up with his second before getting his head to a delightful Joe Ashby cross.

The visitors’ came back again to make it 4-4 before another clinical Goody finish edged Warriors ahead once more. Back came the Exeter side yet again to make it 5-5.

The contest was inside its final minute when Goody again broke clear and he kept his cool to slot the ball beyond the gloves man to seal a fabulous win.

Benedict Teague had a fine game in the Warriors defence, but the star of the show was undoubtedly five-goal Goody.
