Sidmouth Warriors 4, Brixington Blues 1 Sidmouth Warriors Under-13s overcame a difficult surface to serve up a real squad performance to eventually brush Brixington aside.

With four of the normal starting team having rugby trials and Joe Lowe out injured the Warriors started the game with a bare eleven players, most of them operating out of their normal positions.

The visitors took advantage and made a high-tempo start. Sidmouth battled bravely and some great tackles from Jones, Elliot Perez and McCullin kept Brixington at bay.

The visitors took the lead in the 10th minute when a long ball over the top saw their striker outpace the defence and slot the ball past Perez.

The goal spurred Sidmouth on and with Gosse outstanding as playmaker, they created a brace of chances which saw both Thomas and Silk go close to restoring parity.

The equaliser came from a speculative piece of play fro Gosse who picked the ball up 30-yards from goal and thumped it home!

The rugby players pitched up after their trials to boost the home resources and Sidmouth took charge of proceedings.

When a free kick was awarded, Cooke rifled it goalwards, the visiting keeper could not hang on to it and, when the ball fell to the feet of the impressive Buckland, he slammed it home to give Sidmouth the lead.

Brixington began the second half in the ascendancy and only some brilliant goalkeeping by Perez kept them out before the defence of Hayman, Mead, Woodruff and Jones took control.

With greater stability at the back, Warriors began to boss possession and play some lovely passing football. Sparkes and Silk on the wings showed their pace and from one wing raid Cooke went close.

A Cooke corner was headed over by Silk before a lovely passing move started by Gosse through Perez and McCullin saw Silk slot the ball home.

With the game stretched, Silk netted his second to complete the scoring.
