Sidmouth Sea Angling Club were the host team for 2008 for the Torbay Shield inter-club fishing competition. In all eight clubs from around East Devon and Torbay fished at beaches around Sidmouth and Branscombe for this prestigious trophy. Fish caught from the shore zones included plaice, garfish, mackerel, wrasse, dogfish and whiting. Out in the boats there were bream, wrasse, dogfish, pouting etc. At the presentation Sidmouth SAC were awarded the first place with 37 pts - pictured below. Other placings were: 2, Honiton SAC 34pts; 3, Paignton SAA 31pts; 4, T and B ASA 28pts; 5, Budleigh 24pts; 6, Brixham SAC 23pts; 7, Cormorants 17pts; 8, Teignmouth SAS 14pts. Winners Sidmouth SAC.
