Nine competitors took part in the recent Flybe tennis tournament at Sidmouth.

Players came from Exeter, Torquay and Exmouth as well as over half from Sidmouth Tennis Club. Three were newcomers (Ollie Jones, Alex Peacock and Jamie Wyant from Sidmouth Tennis Club) to the Mini Green Flybe Competition and they experienced a range of mixed matches against Green 1s right through to fellow club G4 players.

The experienced Jake Upsher proved too strong for all the competitors and, in the battle of the local boys, Ollie Truman triumphed.

Jamie Wyant enjoyed success on two separate occasions which gave him and his tennis a huge boost. Alex Peacock fought long and hard, displaying grit and determination, but was unable to beat his fellow club-mates. Ollie Jones, who plays tennis once a week, enjoyed the competitive challenge, despite a busy weekend of sport, but, by the end of Sunday was ready to put his feet up!

These Mini Flybe Events events are a huge learning curve for the children. They provide great experience and competitive challenges, players continue to learn the tennis etiquette, learn to try and control their emotions when things don't always go to plan, and learn to play tactically to mention but a few - referees are able and willing to assist where necessary.
