Grecians out of luck at stadiummk

The Grecians returned to Stadiummk, where the Dons rode their luck on their way to the three points, and an impressive Exeter, despite their pressure and dominance had no points to show for their efforts. As a result MK Dons leapfrogged City into seventh place in League One, following a 53rd minute sucker punch goal from Aaron Wilbraham in a 1-0 win.

The first half was played almost entirely in the MK half, as the Grecians struggled to find a way through a resilient and well-drilled back-line and when they did find an opening, either the wrong decision or a poor delivery let them down. The statistics however underline just how dominant the Grecians were, 57 per cent of the play, 11 shots at goal compared to the hosts' seven and nine corners to two, but, ultimately, football is about scoring goals, and that was the only thing lacking from an otherwise accomplished performance.

This was City's third successive away defeat and manager Paul Tisdale observed: "It's difficult to know what to say because we played extremely well but we lost. We are extremely disappointed that we've lost a game that we had so much control over and were so clearly in a position to win. We played such good football that we would have hoped to have scored one, two or maybe three goals. They had neither a shot nor a corner in the first half."

Tisdale added: "It appeared to me we beat them in most departments of the game, other than the important one, which is the scoreline. Ultimately, that's what it's about. They worked very hard for their win, whereas we worked very hard but got nothing."

Paul Tisdale and his coaches continue to shape the Grecians into one of the best sides we have seen at St James Park for many years.

?A long-distance away trip to Bury is the drawn path to what could be some much wanted FA Cup glory on November 6.

?This weekend, the Grecians are back at St James Park , entertaining Brentford, which has had a poor start to the season and is currently just outside the relegation zone having, surprisingly, last weekend beaten 3rd place Peterborough 2-1.

?Anyone interested in following City on their travels we have a coach leaving Sidmouth for all away games and for more details please contact Di Lee on 01395 577567.
