Wednesday brought rain at a most inconvenient time for it struck on ladies day at the club, writes George Carr.
The rain’s arrival is very much par for the course (ouch!); commiserations then to our very vibrant ladies section who do seem to catch the worst of the weather and certainly deserve better.
In the Challenge Trophy, which caters anyone with a handicap of 24 or less; Martin White is the first to progress to the semi-final after defeating Steve Crabb in the quarters.
Martin awaits the outcome of the match between club-vice-captain Dave Pepperell and Stuart Coles whilst in the other half of the draw Messrs Lee, Lewis (C), Kerridge and CC (Chris) Roberts contest the other semi-final place.
In The Hall Trophy for 14 handicappers and under Mark Thomas progressed to the semi-finals by defeating John Jones two-and-one after a very close encounter and will now face Jamie (Nobby) Spiller, whilst Neil Holland and Will Hastie face each other in the other semi-final in what could prove a fascinating encounter - good luck to them all.
