Bruce Harcourt showed the way in Monday’s Charles Stanley stableford, writes George Carr.
Playing off a handicap of 20 he dropped seven shots on the way out and eight coming home with a birdie on the 12th, to register 41 points.
Two points adrift with 39 taking second spot was club captain John Rockey, who started with a ‘blob’ on the first; but his birdie on the 13th left him only two worse on the back nine for an impressive recovery.
Charles Oram’s recovery, playing off 26, was even more impressive after no-score ‘blobs’ on holes one, three and seven, his steady back nine earned him third place with 38 points - how to live dangerously!
