Lawrence Hill secured victory in the latest Sidmouth Jewellers Friday stableford at Sidmouth, writes George Carr.
His 40 stableford points, including one birdie and nine pars, saw him win with something to spare.
His gross 78, off a handicap of 15 leaving him two points clear of his nearest challenger Steve Channing on 38 points.
Channing had eight pars, but rather too many double bogies to threaten the leader I’m afraid, but did well enough to keep Mark Thomas in third place on count back.
In fourth place, Dave Pepperell (Stonkey to one and all) carded six birdies on the day, but a sudden outbreak of double-bogies on the sixth, seventh and eighth dashed any hope of victory - it’s a cruel game sometimes.
