Thirty one ladies played for the President’s Prize on Wednesday and the Lady Captain and her Vice Captain invited Club President Alec Salway and his wife Jan to tea before he presented the prizes, writes Gil Paddon.

We played a Par competition with full handicap, which the President thought was a strange format, it is tough to play and to come in with a good score you really need to play well below your handicap.

Jacqui Hills was the overall winner scoring +3 and Sheila Tallon was the runner up with a score of +1 and they both had a handicap reduction.

Alex, feeling vulnerable and out-numbered by the ladies thanked us all for taking part in his competition and presented Jacqui with a cut glass decanter and glasses engraved with the club badge.

Jacqui will also receive the Presidents Cup at the annual prize-giving. Sheila was presented with bottles of wine which probably had her name on, she met the President in the car-park before playing her game and he told her jokingly that the wine was for her!
