Peter Hills from Sidmouth travelled to the East Dorset Croquet Club near Poole to take part in their annual Open Class Competition over the August Bank Holiday.
Peter's recent fall from handicap 5 to 6 put him into the C Class rather than the harder B Class, but he beat all the other five players in his block by margins ranging from +3 to +19, to win the Advanced Level event and be presented with the attractive Halse Salver.
The East Dorset Club were very hospitable, even offering visiting players B and B in their own homes. Refreshments were excellent and the lawns in good but slower than usual condition.
