A familiar name came to the fore in the popular Sidmouth Jewellers strongly contested Friday competition, writes George Carr.
However, it was Ian Holland, playing off a handicap of 11, who triumphed in this one and not Neil, whose name was not on the start sheet.
Using only six of his eleven shots and finishing with a birdie on the 18th, Ian’s steady golf earned him 42 points and left him a comfortable three shots clear of Jamie Spiller (Nobby), who led the chasing pack with 39 points for second place - Jamie’s double bogey on the 14th costing him dear in spite of his birdie on the 17th.
Dave Pepperell (Stonkey), in third spot on count back, also posted 39 points with a very tidy card with the out of character double-bogey on the 17th partly redeemed by his birdie on the last.
Fred the Bread (Neil Faulkener) and Stuart Coles led the chasing pack. Well played gentlemen.
