Honiton had a lot to reflect on during the long journey back from North Devon on Saturday night.
Hosts Filleigh handed out a seven wicket clobbering after bundling Honiton out for a meagre 87!
It was the first defeat of the league campaign for Kev Kelly’s side who go into Saturday’s home meeting with bottom of the table, win less Woodbury, looking to move back into the top two berths that they slipped out of on account of the Filleigh failure.
Honiton II were also beaten, though their two wicket home loss to Feniton II was a much tighter affair. Craig Lapping (31), Pete Beighton (28) and Andy Brinsford (24), combined to see their side bank maximum batting points at 203 all out. Brinsford then claimed 4-40 and Lapping bagged a brace to sit tidily with his earlier runs, but Feniton got home with two wickets to spare on 206-8.
On Saturday Andrew Lapping leads his side to Cloakham Lawns where they will meet an Axminster III side yet to win a D Division East game.
