Two teams remain unbeaten in Pool A of the Honiton Summer Netball League after the latest round of matches, writes Graham Ingram.

Uplowman, having played three times and the Otters, who have played twice, are the unbeaten pair.

Uplowman made it a hat-trick of wins with a victory over Beer Blazers. It was the Blazers biggest defeat of the campaign when they went down by 46-67 despite good work from Alex Adkin.

They were no match for the power of Uplowman for whom Andrea Britton turned in another fine display.

Otters were in strong form against Sidmouth Toucans Old Birds, who became the first team to lose without gaining a point from the contest. With Emily Vicary playing well Otters soon overcame their handicap deficit and finished winners by 54-24.

Vikki Russell had a fine game for Toucans. Tip Top Trees held onto the second spot with a good win against Otter Valley Dairy. With Rachel cavin playing well for Trees they overcame their small goal disadvantage to take an early lead from which they never looked back, despite a fine effort for Sarah Broom for Otter Valley Dairy. 3Ts finished victors by 57-48.

The final game in Pool A saw Swagger Mamas playing Signs South West. It wasn’t until the third quarter that SSW took the lead against the hard working Mamas for whom Mimi Khan played well. The experience of SSW showed through and Debbie Wheeler pushed them onto a 72-53 win.

In Pool B there was success for two teams who have not seen a win for some time, with victories for JD Tyres and Blackdown Ladies!

Hawks were up against Blackdown Ladies and started 20 goals adrift. Although they worked hard, with Paige faye doing especially well the Ladies dug deep into their reserves and with Laura Parrett providing encouragement they held out to win by 53-46, and become one of five teams on four points. Pixies started 12 up on JD Tyres and with Asilah Jarrald leading the team well they were still in front, by 49-45 going into the final quarter. From somewhere Tanya Broom found extra shooting form and transformed defeat into victory by 57-55, so that they too, along with Hawks, Panthers, Hi Q and Blackdown Ladies found themselves with four points!
