The Honiton Netball League once again saw the top two in Division One in action on another busy match night, writes Graham Ingram.

Both the top two met basement sides with HI maintaining their unbeaten record with a comfortable 58-22 win over Signs South West for whom faye Hawkins had a good game. Once again Laura French was the pick of the Hi Q players. The win for Flamingos was even more convincing with a 55-9 victory over Howden Hawks, who have struggled to score goals this campaign and are still, like SSW, looking for a win this season. Karen Hall and Rachel Larcombe for Flamingos and Hawks respectively were the star players tonight.

A full complement of fixtures in Division Two saw Blackdown maintain their 100 per cent record with a 40-22 victory against Swaggermamas. Blackdown, with Teresa Sandeman in fine form were in commanding form with a 36-14 lead going into the final period and the mamas unlikely to get a point. The final quarter saw the Mamas led by Karen Bennett outscore Blackdown for the first time in the game and to do enough to gain a point from the fixture. Sidmouth Toucans held onto the top spot thanks to their 36-23 win over JD Tyres. Toucans took control in the second quarter and never looked back. Sarah Sparkes was the player of the game for Sidmouth whilst Tiffany Munt was the JD star. Tip Top Trees had to work hard for their three points against a determined Beer Blazers, for whom both Gemma Langham and Steph Upson played well.

The Blazers took an early 10-5 lead before 3Ts drew level at half way, and then edged 24-22 up going into the final period. With Megan Gooding in her stride the Trees held out to win by 33-28, leaving Beer still looking for that elusive first victory. Final game saw Otter Valley beat Pixies in a close fought game. Emily Hardingham played well for Pixies whilst Alice Quick was the pick of the Valley in their 29-18 win.
