The Honiton Netball Winter Season 2018-2019 has come to an end, writes Steph Upson.
Twenty-four teams each played 124 matches across the season, and that number of teams makes it the busiest season the Honiton Netball League has ever seen.
The league was played out across three divisions and, in the top division, it was as close as ever with just four points separating the top three teams in the final table!
Hotshots finished the season as overall winners having won 12 of their 14 games, drawing one and being beaten just the once! Their 39 points tally was two better than runners-up Hi Q and a further two points back were third placed TNC Otters.
Division Two was dominated from first whistle to last by the outstanding young tam that are SNC Eagles who won all 14 of their matches.
Michaela Sydenham, the umpiring secretary of the league says of the Division Two champions: "They played so clinically throughout the season and have taken everything in their stride. I have no doubt that will enjoy the summer action in Division One and, if they play with the same gusto and quality as they have shown in the winter season then they will be fine!"
Eagles, by winning all their matches, ended the season six points clear of runners-up Signs South West with Beer Blazers, five points further back, taking third spot.
A host of new teams took part in Division Three and all have made good starts to their netball careers. Cranbrook Black Arrows, Sidmouth Trident, Jurassics and Tornados did particularly well, all ending the season with points tallies in the 30s!
Tornados ultimately came out on top, ending the season with 13 out of 14 wins and 40 points.
