The Invitation Open, played at Sidmouth Golf Club, was an opportunity for club members to invite friends from other clubs to Sidmouth on a lovely day with the course in good condition, writes John Rockey.
The competition, played as a four-ball better-ball, ended in a blanket finish for the main prizes with Paddy Tallon and partner Paul Hill from Honiton taking the first prize with 39 points by virtue of them scoring well over the last few holes.
In second place was the Wilmington/Quinn partnership who also scored 39 points.
However, their inferior back nine was not sufficient for the main prize, but good enough to beat off third placed pairing of Spurway and Pym who just lost out with a bogey on the last hole which proved expensive.
