Sidmouth ladies have played another round of the Lane trophy against Torquay United with two rinks playing at home and two at Torquay. Torquay proved too strong on the day winning by 92-58 and by three rinks to one, write Sue and Peter Mison.

Well done to Sidmouth’s winning home rink, Lorna Lever, Paddy Chew, Christa Turner and Shirley Rose who won by 20-16.

Sidmouth men played the final round of the County Trophy Over-60s League against South Hams on a two rink home and away basis. Sidmouth won on three rinks out of four and by 91-72. Well done to the best rink, John Chew, Peter Mison, Bob Daniels and John Mason who won away by 25-15.

On Thursday, Sidmouth ladies played another round of the Foxlands trophy against a strong Exonia team. Sidmouth lost on three rinks and by 53-95 but on one home rink Pat Pritchard, Sue Mison, Phyll Nobbs and Jill Bishop played well to win by 19-13.

Saturday morning saw another round of the Mens’ County Trophy Interclub against near neighbours and keen rivals Honiton. A very closely-contested game ended with Sidmouth winning on both home rinks but losing away and overall by 81-87. Well done to Sidmouth’s best rink, John Chew, Dave Lever, Bob Daniels and Peter Mison who won by 23 -20.

Sidmouth took three mixed teams to Exonia, winning on two rinks and by 60 shots to 46 overall. Well done to our best rink Jan Turner, Margot Beauchamp, Sheila Burnand and Bill Turner who scored a “hot shot” and won by 27 shots to 13.

Sunday saw another round of the popular Sunrise Umbrella competition with rinks playing morning and afternoon and a tasty lunch in between. Once again Sylvia and Ronnie Cook produced a gastronomic delight. A thoroughly entertaining time was had by all those who attended.

Sidmouth beat Devon Masonics at home 74-33.

Well done to the best Sidmouth rink, Tony Constable, Lorna Lever and Dreda Taylor who won by the magnificent total of 41- 3.
